On this page are four things that you should read/watch/do before you begin wiki editing:=
What is a Wiki?
Contributing to a Wiki
Wiki Assessment Rubric
WIki Acceptable Use Agreement - to be completed by all students and teachers.
1. Wiki In Plain English video - Go watch this 3 minute video
Thanks to those students who have pointed out an issue with the video - it should work now.
2. Wiki Behaviours Guidelines for Editing and Adding to pages
Be clear. Be direct, and specific. Make your point in a way that everyone can understand
Be as concise as possible Don’t write more words than you need
Use manners when editing other people’s work Be polite and speak to the person whose work you have edited. Your edits should IMPROVE the existing work
Don’t change some text without a good reason Editing, fixing mistakes, adding to and improving writing are the only reasons to change some existing text. If you have nothing better to say – say nothing!
Creating new pages must be authorised by a teacher We want you to make good use of the wiki but sometimes the teacher will know of other ‘page requests’ and so we can avoid making two pages the same.
You are writing for a BIG audience – a GLOBAL audience Your spelling, grammar, tone and ideas should reflect that. Be as accurate as possible. If you are stuck, ask for help!
On this wiki you are representing yourself, your family, your class and your school Act appropriately!
Download this PDF and save it to your student folder on the server. Make sure you read this as it will tell you what your teacher is expecting from your wiki-work!
4. Wiki Acceptable Use AgreementClick here to go to a Google Form that you need to complete. This form will allow you to agree to these acceptable behaviours. It will also let the teacher know that you have read the assessment rubric and understand the quality and type of work that is expected of you.
